Paul Mozzicato, Risk Advisor at Smith Brothers Insurance in Glastonbury, CT, recently served as committee chair of the third annual Birdies & Horsepower event for the Hometown Foundation.
Birdies & Horsepower is the signature fundraising event of the year for the foundation’s Major Illness Pillar, raising over $300,000.
This pillar of the Hometown Foundation helps those diagnosed with major illness, both chronic and acute. Their goal is to create a healthier community by offering direct relief and assistance to those in need.
Mozzicato has been involved with the foundation for five years. After bringing his children to a special Olympics event, he liked the work the foundation was doing and reached out to get involved.
Since then, Mozzicato has helped create Birdies & Horsepower, which in 2022 had over 475 attendees. The event is entirely volunteer run.
“It’s community based, strengthening the foundation by getting the community involved,” says Mozzicato. “Then the giving comes naturally. It’s contagious.”
