Glastonbury, CT., December 2022 – Smith Brothers Insurance has been committed to giving back to the community since its inception in 1971. Helping others is the team’s big purpose, with not only their knowledge of risk management and asset protection, but also their time and effort to take care of those in need.

In the spirit of giving, the Smith Brothers Insurance team coordinated two donation drives this fall.

Continuing the long-standing relationship with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford, Smith Brothers Insurance team member Carla Messina spearheaded a toy and coat drive for the Club’s Early Learning Center. In total, the Smith Brothers Insurance team provided new winter coats and Christmas presents for more than thirty students in the program.

The Early Learning Center supports pre-k students to develop their communication skills and social learning.

In a newer partnership, Smith Brothers Insurance also hosted a donation drive benefiting United for the Troops (UFT). UFT collects donations and sends care packages to troops deployed overseas.

The Smith Brothers Insurance team donated several pounds of sundries and toiletries to UFT’s, “Operation: Defend the Holidays,” their annual shipping event wherein more than four hundred volunteers gather to sort, package, and ship thousands of holiday care packages.

Since its inception in 2007, UFT has sent thousands of personalized boxes to overseas troops. Although UFT is active year-round, the holidays are their busiest time of the year.
